December: Christmas is coming and the studio is getting festive, fancy and decadently wintry. Following a hugely successful autumn, Halloween saw us in pride of place in Time Out's costume directory for the year, calling us 'highly inventive' and proclaiming, 'If you want to wow people with your dress-up, this place is a must.' Prangsta capitalised on a year of wonderous success by kitting out the denizens of London town in the finest fancy dress garb in this hemisphere. A startling black and white theme was chosen for the in shop shoot, pictures of which will follow soon! And so to the party season where the excitement mounts and everyone wants to look their best....
October: the design studio is working on a postmodern menswear collection; gothic shirts, screen printed fabrics, and cuts inspired by the arcane, the fall of Babylon and the Brothers Grimm. In association with Holdup Heroines and Aphrodisiacs we a preparing costumes for a 'Labyrinth of Lust' themed party on 17th October. For men: 18th Century adventurers and highwaymen, vagabonds and kings, creatures of faerytale, horns and hooves, soldiers of fortune and heroes of myth. For women: postmodern pre-Raphaelites, woodland nymphs, greek goddesses and fantasy spirits. Over the Halloween period we have been recommended as the preferred costumiers of two of London's most decadent party throwers: The Last Tuesday Society's Halloween Dance: http://www.thelasttuesdaysociety.org/ball_2.html and White Mischief as they present Le Chateau de Barbe-Bleue (Blue Beard’s Castle) on 30th October; a Halloween collaboration between the promoter and noted arts producers Whoopee. Taking over a secret central London Georgian mansion, they present a theatritacular that is half party, half show – with interactive character performances and stereophonic soundscapes http://www.whitemischief.info/. Of course we can be relied upon to create the most ravishing corpse brides and the most grotesque butchers and beasts that will shake London on the witching night.
September: Prangsta staged a spellbinding fashion show at Bestival. The 'Out of Space' theme inspired us to stage a Theatrical Catwalk Show based around the Zodiac. We had an aerial hoop artist suspended and dressed as The Moon, Lara Fairie Love our fire spinning aerial act performing as The Sun and a live gypsy band dressed as harlequin stars. Aries the rampant Ram, Taurus the matador Bull, Cancer the acrobat Crab, Gemini the transvestite twins, Leo the urban Lion, Virgo the ethereal Virgin, Libra with the golden scales, Sagittarius the sexy archer, Capricorn the steam punk goat, Aquarius the Water Bearer in a silver showgirl, and Pisces the fish. All of the was compered by chanteuse Erminia Monsueto who was decorated from head to toe in gold glitter. Needless to say it looked out of this world!
August: Bestival commissioned us to make Alice in Wonderland themed props for their new tent. The artistic team of designers came up with a giant Rabbit's head, a colossal teapot spilling with blue glitter and pearls, 2 gorgeous pink velvet flamingos, great big lampshades and yards of bunting decorated with all the emblems of the cards. These pieces of art his will be displayed in their Alice in Wonderland themed tent for years to come.
July: Prangsta had a busy month what with preparing two new collections, dressing a festival and packing the Boudoir to Secret Garden Party and staging an 'Eden' and 'Babylon' themed Theatrical Catwalk Show on our friend's stage: The CumCum YumYum Stage. We began to panic when the soundsystem stopped working and none of the models had showed up but the press and photographers kept arriving. We kept them entertained by pouring out the Pimms and dressed The Bohemianauts' Tom Baker up as he played his accordian and sang old classics like Radiohead's 'Creep'. As we frantically scoured the crowd for gorgeous participants we pulled in favours from all of our performer friends and dressed them in the costumes instead. Gypsy band Filthy, Rotten and Mean in harlequin attire belted out the tunes as the metallic catsuits, knights in shining showgirl, helmets and armour of the Babylon collection was juxtaposed with the Belle Epoque inspired harem suits and draped fabrics of Eden. We really proved that we could pull things together at the last minute and rode the wave of chaos with style.
May: Prangsta is designing two exciting collections to be showcased in the summer. One is inspired by the 'Belle Epoque' era and the garden of Eden. Its graceful lines are reminiscent of Classical beauty, Mucha and the Jazz Age - it drips with innocence using curving lines, drapes, pearls and tactile satins. This is juxtaposed with a 'Fall of Babylon' theme for the second collection which exemplifies the temper of a post modern apocalypse; armoured transvestite Darthvaders battle to get to the top of the rat race, exaggerated wigs tower with collapsing skyscrapers, an angel falls from a trapeze and singes her wings, pinstripes, metallics and deranged Dickensian ragamuffins. Look forward to witnessing our theatrical fashion showcase at various exclusive events and festivals throughout the Summer!
April: When we're not plotting extravagant circus shows, parading down the catwalk or swinging from the rafters Prangsta is busy pawing bands like Tough Love who we are proud to dress. We offer a 30% discount on costume hire (themes include Prohibition, Steam Punk and Victoriana) to the patrons of their 'White Mischief' events - April 28th, May 23rd, June 20th, August 30th, October 31, Dec 31st. Please check www.whitemischief.info for further details.
Feb: Prangsta designed an exquisite collection of accessories based around the 'Myths and Legends' theme for the Secret Garden Party's Bacchanalia Ball. Ornate horns and head-dresses dripping with decadent jewels, the hind-quarters and hooves of naughty Pans, fawns and Satyrs and cold brilliant masks of Incubus and Succubus.
December 08: Prangsta Entertainment Agency is born! We’re more than happy with the results of dressing our performers UP to the nines and unleashing them at various parties over the Christmas period. Not only do our acts hold a certain charismatic edge over other artists, they are exquisitely garbed... A truly authentic ‘Vintage Circus’ family: the resplendent Ringmaster! Showgirls, Jugglers, Aerial Performance, Clowns, Dancers, Hula Hoop Girls, Funambulists, Gypsy Bands, Fiddlers, Mime, Freakshows and Fire Eaters. Unrivalled in their performance and unsurpassed in their vintage and couture costumiery - oh this entertainment really is Enchanting...
