Fashion & Costume Design

Having initially trained @ St. Martins College of Art, Melanie Wilson of Prangsta Costumiers, resumed the threads of fashion having recognised the potential for collecting and utilising the vast abundance of vintage clothing and fabrics already elaborately produced yet discarded due to outdated styles and trends. The collecting process, a necessarily time consuming endeavour, was to form the palette of colour and texture with which we could ultimately execute our wild and wonderful designs – truly turning rags to riches.

The majority of “fancy dress” shops tend to offer cheap mass produced and unconvincing representations of a rather limited repertoire of familiar characters, often making a mockery of the concept of “dressing up” and placing a perimeter fence firmly around our imaginative possibilities. Prangsta’s feel for quality coupled with our slant towards the theatrical and bizarre has transformed all this, making the process of role-play, mask wearing and self-abandonment a more wholesome and personally rewarding experience.

Aside from the Extra-Ordinary Fanciful Dressage available for hire Prangsta has become more renowned for the development of Seasonal & Wearable Collections combining a unique aesthetic with comfort and practicality. We often work in conjunction with the wearer on a made-to-measure basis and use luscious fabrics and wicked tailoring in such a way as to make the attire fit and feel as natural as a second skin, whilst giving the wearer the confidence to conqueror the modern urban environment.

Prangsta Costumiers' Showrooms and Studio are situated in London, though we are available for bookings elsewhere and have a client list including movie stars, bands, festival organisers & record labels.
